Letters from Patrons
Back to Frank Sacks Tennis Camps in the News
These are just a few of the letters we have received from patrons who greatly enjoyed lessons with Frank Sacks Tennis Camps, Inc.!
"Dear Mr. Sacks, We fell compelled to write you about the extremely positive experience our eight year old son Jonathan had attending the Frank Sacks Camps under the supervision of Will Karydakis this summer. Jonathan enrolled in the camps through the Deerfield Park District. Jonathan loved the camp so much that he participated in every summer session the was offered and is enrolled for the fall. Jonathan has developed a passion for tennis thanks to the program and to Will Karydakis. Will is an outstanding teacher and mentor. Will develops a wonderful rapport with the children, while maintaining his authority. His enthusiasm for the sport of tennis contagious. He provides the perfect balance of patience, encouragement, and structure in a fun, upbeat atmosphere. Jonathan will remember Will as the first major positive influential figure in his life outside his own family. We are extremely grateful to Will for all his hard work and dedication. He has made our son's summer a memorable growth experience. Sincerely, Janet and Dave Travetto"
"Dear Mr. Sacks Dick Shapiro has been out children's tennis coach throughout the summer. We thought that we were signing up for a few lessons to acquaint our children with the sport and had no idea of the experience that they were about to receive. Dick Shapiro is one of the best tennis coaches that we have encountered. He kept the children engaged through fun filled activities that he taught the skills, but he also kept the children focused and excited. He has an arsenal of strategies by which he drives though the skills that he would like the children to accomplish. From Monkey Cage Tennis Baseball, Soccer Tennis, Road Runner and Dungeon Tennis, he made the lessons a fun place to be. His knowledge and expertise in this area are hard to match. Some of the days were really hot and Dick always brought a cold water supply for the children to get drinks in order to keep their energy going. He made them feel good about themselves through verbal praise when they accomplished their goals. He always had some fun twist to start each lesson like attitude day to strength training day. We never really knew what else he was going to come up with. He ended each lesson with a small trinket reward to each child for a job well done. He made the children certificates at the end of each session. Our children learned a lot about tennis this summer and loved every moment of it. You can tell that he enjoys what he does and he spreads that emotion to the children. Our hope is that Dick continues to return to the River Trails Park District to teach tennis again. We are not sure that another instructor will be able to match this experience for our children. Our thanks to Dick and the Frank Sacks Tennis Camp for a great experience. Cindy and Tom Nceisbach"
"Dear Dr. Richard C. Shapiro, Thank you for the wonderful job you did this summer in teaching youth and adult tennis lessons for the Medinah Park District. The feedback from the students has been very positive. They remarked on their surveys that they learned a lot and also had a great time. They felt that you were very knowledgeable about the game of tennis and your enthusiasm was wonderful. They also appreciated the amount of time you spent with them. I, as always, enjoyed working with you. I appreciate you professionalism and kindness. I am fortunate to have such quality instruction at my park district. Thank you again and I look forward to working together again in the future. Sincerely, Suzanne Waghorne, Superintendent of Recreation Medinah Park District
Dear Mr. Dick, I had so much fun for the 6 classes we played tennis. I hope to be Serena or Venus one day. Remember when I couldn't serve the ball . On the next page are some pictures of me and you trying to make me serve the ball right, and there are picture of Rio, you, and me backhanding the ball. I hope I am in your class next year. I am trying to talk my friend into starting to play tennis with me, and I hope I talked to her into doing it with me. From, Genet Dear Frank, Thank you very much for the impromptu individual attention you payed me. I was feeling really frustrated and the time you spent with me was not only incredibly helpful, it boasted my confidence. Maybe there is hope yet. I think you are running a great organization and I will recommend you to everyone I know. Thanks again. Sincerely, Heather VandenHeuvel From: Leah Domrzalski To: Debbie Carlson, River Trail Park District Good Morning, My son (16) has been taking tennis lessons from the Frank Sacks group for about a year now. He has learned a lot, and really enjoys the classes. He has also had a set of private lessons, and is currently signed up for another set. Over the holidays, he took a tennis camp from another organization, and was very disappointed. Just wanted to encourage you to keep your affiliation with Sacks going...maybe even find a way to get the word out more! Thanks, Leah Domrzalski From: Debbie Carlson To: Leah Domrzalski

is Great I'm not sure what the numbers are regarding Lovelace tennis camps but parents are called saying that their children LOVE the camp. I myself have noticed an increase in registrations. I just wanted to pass on the good comments I have been receiving over the phone. Michael Murray

August 12, 2005 Dear Mr. Sacks: I want to take this opportunity to congratulate you
for hiring such a superb tennis instructor as Carl Johnson and to let
you know how much I have enjoyed my tennis instruction from him.
I have had many fine instructors over the years, including the
women’s tennis coach from The University of North Carolina at As a professor at Loyola University Chicago, I take special note of the way in which Carl teaches, first by explaining a concept and then my demonstrating it to appeal to both cognitive and physical learning styles. I especially appreciate the way in which he shapes his students tennis skills through positive reinforcement of skills mastered while suggesting ways of improving in a step-wise fashion that is not overwhelming. While I could easily come discouraged by focusing on my short comings, I find the Carl’s approach enables me to gain confidence in my game and have a lot o fun in the process. He is non-discriminatory and fully “present” with each student whether they be “up and comers” with competitive dreams or older students with recreational goals. And he is truly amazing in that he knows everyone’s names! I thank you for affording me the opportunity to
participate in your program and to have the opportunity to meet Carl.
This tennis experience makes my life in Sincerely, Carlean Gilbert. Feb 6, 2006 Dear Mr. Sacks, We write to thank you for volunteering your time to work with the freshmen at Ida Crown Jewish Academy. We were able to raise students' awareness of health-related concerns during this week's activities, and we hope the benefits will help them as they grow into adulthood. Students benefited from the expertise you shared with them, and they universally acclaimed these activities as worthwhile. This sort of school partnership with the greater community to educate young women and men exemplifies the mission of Ida Crown Jewish Academy. On behalf of ourselves and the students, we thank you for your generous contribution. Very Truly, Yours, Connie Kadish - Chair, Education Committee Jeremy Kahan, PhD. - Assistant Principal, Curriculum & Instruction.
Feb, 2, 2006 Dear Mr. Sacks, Thank you for joining us during Health Week. I thought it was very generous of you to take time out of your busy schedule, to come and play tennis with us. You truly enhanced our health week with your presence. I learned many new things from your class. I learned how to hit a ball with a racket, and even how to pick a ball up with a racket. I enjoyed playing tennis, and learning the basics of the game. Because of your tennis lesson, I would like to start taking lessons. Thank you again for coming to Ida Crown Jewish Academy, to teach us about tennis. I had an awesome time! I hope you will come to teach the Academy's future freshman class about tennis. Sincerely, Melody Cutler Student - Ida Crown Jewish Academy Chicago, Illinois Dear Mr. Sacks, Thank you so much for coming to our school to teach us some tennis skills. It was greatly appreciated that you took the time out of your busy schedule to add tennis lessons to our health weeks. You really enhanced our week with excitement by teaching us all how to play some tennis. The tennis lesson that you constructed really was exciting and fun to learn. I never knew how tennis could really be such good exercise. I really learned a lot and enjoyed all the tricks and games that were taught. Thank you again for coming. It was extremely kind of you to take the time to come and show us all about tennis. It was very well appreciated and hope you enjoyed the time as well. Thank you so much.
